Persulfates on Hair Lightener Labels: What the Label Can and Cannot Tell You

Direct answer: when ammonium, potassium, sodium, or another named persulfate appears on a hair lightener label, the ingredient declaration establishes that the component contains that substance. It does not tell you the concentration, lift level, dust behavior, compatible developer, mixing ratio, scalp permission, timing, or individual respiratory and skin compatibility. Those decisions require the complete product directions and history.

Persulfates are not developer. Do not replace the named developer with water, peroxide from another system, or a stronger developer, and do not add loose persulfate powder to a lightener.
